Karela Bhaji

Bitter gourd / Bitter melon or Karela as everybody know it tastes very bitter but its loaded with healthy properties. Bitter melon is used in various medicines. It has various medicinal values and helps in
treating Antimalaria, Diabetes, Anticancer,Antiviral etc. There are lots of recipes for bitter melon. Today i am posting a simple recipe for Bitter gourd and Potato Bhaji which goes well with chapatti and even rice.

karela aloo bhaji

Ingredients:-


Karela or Bitter Gourd 2 nos
Potato 1 Medium 
Onion 1 Large finely chopped
Turmeric Powder ( acc)
Whole red chilli 1-2
Coriander powder 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder (optional)
Cumin Seeds
Salt
Oil

Method:-


1) Wash the Karela or Bitter gourd properly and chop it finely.

2) Peel the potato and chop it finely.

3) Take oil in a pan , add cumin seeds and whole red chilli, then add chopped karela and potato in the pan after the cumin seeds splutter.

4) Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and salt acc. and mix it well.

5) Cook it covered stirring it in middle till its half done.

6) After its half cooked add chopped onion ,coriander powder and red chilli powder.

7) Cover it and cook for at least 4-5 minutes and then cook it opened for some more time till it becomes little crunchy and the onions have turned brown. Switch off the flame after all are well cooked.

8) Hot hot Karela Bhaji is ready to be served with chapati or rice and dal.

Notes:-


You can also add amchoor powder or tomatoes.
