Chana dal is also known as split bengal gram. It is mostly popular in India. It is produced by removing the outer layer of the kala chana or black chick peas and then splitting it. It has also low glycemic index
so its good for diabetic people.
Today i am going to prepare chana dal tadka which is very famous in Dhabas (Indian highways local restaurants) .Here in Dhabas ,usually anyone can find this combination of tadka dal with tandoori roti.
Now take a kadhai put 3-4 tbsp of oil , add jeera ( cumin seeds).
so its good for diabetic people.

Ingredients:-
Chana dal 1 cup soaked for about 4-5 hours
Onion 1 large size finely chopped
Green Chilli 1 finely chopped
Tomato 1 large size finely chopped
Garlic pods 2 finely chopped
Ginger grated 1 tsp
Turmeric powder
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Chilli Powder 1 tsp
Curry powder 1 tsp( optional)
Garam masala a pinch of
Methi leaves dried( kasuri methi) or dried fenugreek leaves
Coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tbsp( not much)
Method:-
Cook it in water, turmeric powder and salt for 2-3 whistles in a pressure cooker and don't open till all the steam goes out.
Now take a kadhai put 3-4 tbsp of oil , add jeera ( cumin seeds).
After the cumin seeds splutters add the green chilli, chopped garlic and chopped onions and ginger.
Fry till the onions become slight brown in color, then add coriander powder, red chilli powder and curry powder.
Saute it for 2 mins then add chopped tomatoes .
Cook till it become pulpy and oil separates from the masala .
Add kasuri methi 1 tbsp and cook for 2 mins until a nice aroma comes out.
Now add the boiled dal and mix it properly and adjust salt and the amount of water.
Garnish it with chopped coriander and a cube of butter(optional).
Serve the hot dal tadka with any hot indian bread or rice with cut onions and pickles as side.
Notes:-
You can skip the curry powder also .
Butter is optional.
