Now take out the koftas in a paper towel.
For Gravy:-
Take a pan add 2 tbsp oil, put a pinch of sugar . When the sugar turns brown add cumin seeds, bay leaf.
Then add chopped onion and cook till it turns golden brown, then add ginger and garlic paste and cook for about 2 minutes till the raw smell disappears.
Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, curry powder, coriander powder and salt and cook it for a minute.
Then add chopped tomatoes.
Cook it till it becomes pulpy and oil is separated from it.
Add 2 cups of boiling water to the masala and boil it for 5 minutes. You can adjust the amount of water according to your requirement. If you have some mashed potato left you can use it here in the gravy for a thick consistence.
Then add the koftas and cook for 2-3 minutes in a medium flame.
Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and garam masala.
Now its ready to serve hot with rice or any indian bread.
Hope you all will enjoy this dish.

You can also use cashew nut powder in the masala after mixing the masala powders.

ReplyDeleteHi Snigdha,
ReplyDeleteReally luv the recipes u post. I have tried a few recipes. They were awesome.
Just curious why do u add the pinch of sugar in the start? Is it for the color, taste or aroma?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Payal,
ReplyDeleteIts really great to hear that you liked my recipes.
Well adding a pinch of sugar in hot oil and adding onions after it turns reddish brown give a nice color to the curry. You can use this process with any masala curries. Hope i have cleared your doubts.
Thanks
