SabuDana Khichdi

Sabudana or Tapioca is normally consumed during fasts.  But you can have it any time and any day as snacks or breakfast. Today is Durga Ashtami so i thought of making this recipe " sabudana khichdi or
Spicy Tapioca dish".

 For making this you need....

Ingredients:-

Sabu dana 1 cup soaked overnight
Peanuts
Ginger 1 inch grated
Green chilli 1-2 finely chopped
Potato Boiled 1 medium size peeled and cut into pieces
Peas 1/2 cup steamed for about 2 mins in microwave.
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Turmeric powder 1 pinch of
Red chilli powder ( Acc.)
Salt
Lemon juice freshly squeezed 1-2 tbsp
Coriander leaves finely chopped

Method:-

Soak the sabudana the overnight and drain the water properly.
Follow my post for the tips on how to soak the sabudana.
Take a pan and add 2 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp ghee , then add cumin seeds and mustard seeds.

When it splutters add the green chilli and grated ginger and add curry leaves.

Saute it about a minute , don't burn them and then add the turmeric powder chilli powder and boiled potato pieces cut into cubes, salt and chopped coriander and peas.

Now add the roasted peanut powder and cook for about 3-4 minutes in a medium flame.

Now add the sabudana  and mix cook it in slow- medium flame covering it and stirring frequently till it becomes translucent. Stirring it  frequently doesn't make it mushy.

Add salt and adjust it according to you taste.

Switch off the flame and pour the lemon juice and garnish with more coriander leaves and give a quick mix.

Its ready to be served hot.

Notes:-

You can omit the peas, lemon juice if you don't want it.

You can also add the onions ,whole roasted peanuts

You can also add raw peanuts and raw cut potato pieces in the oil and add the sabudana later after its cooked.

Some people don't use turmeric powder and normal salt during fasts so you can skip them and use sendha namak( rock salt) instead.
