Dal Palak ( Spinach in Dal/lentil)

This Recipe is not only simple but very healthy. It has protein loaded with iron too. This dal palak recipe is also made in different ways and with different dals( lentils). But this moong dal palak is one of my favorite.
Sometimes when i cant think of any other option of recipes with spinach i make this as its simple and easy
and healthy too..
For making it for 4 people:-

Ingredients:-
Moong dal( split without skin)- 1 cup
Spinach- 1/2 bunch
1 medium onion finely chopped
1tsp ginger garlic paste
1 medium tomato chopped
cilantro leaves chopped for garnishing
2 tbsp oil
cumin seeds
coriander powder
turmeric powder
chilli powder
garam masala

Method:-
Roast the dal( lentil) for about 5 mins in a medium flame and keep it aside to cool down a bit.
After its cooled down pressure cook the dal with 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder for about 1 whistle and dont open it until all the gas goes out.
Now Take a pan add oil, add jeera( cumin seeds) after the oil is hot and let it splutter and then add the finely chopped onions .
Cook until it becomes slight brown and translucent and after that add ginger garlic paste.
After cooking it for 2-3 mins until the raw smells disappear and a nice aroma comes, add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and mix it well sprinkling a little bit of water.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until it becomes a nice pulp and the oil comes out .
At this time add finely chopped spinach and add it to the masala. and cook for at least 5 minutes until the spinach is cooked and then add the cooked dal .
Simmer it for 2 minutes and add garam masala. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
Now its ready to serve hot with  roti/ paratha or rice
