Chicken Manchurian (Gravy)

Chicken Manchurian is an indo chinese recipe which goes well with almost everything from plain rice to fried rice , and noodles to any Indian bread. In this dish chicken is fried and cooked in a hot and spicy Chinese sauce.
Today i am posting this recipe on request of one of my friends. This is a real lip smacking recipe one could have in the Indo-Chinese Non Veg Entree Menu. For the recipe you need....

Ingredients:-

Boneless chicken 1 lb
Corn flour
Egg 1white part
Black Pepper Powder
Salt accordingly
Ginger Garlic paste 1 tbsp
Green Chilli 1-2 Finely Chopped
Ginger finely chopped about 1/2 tsp
Garlic 3 cloves Finely Chopped
Onion 1 medium Finely chopped
Green onion Finely chopped
Coriander leaves finely chopped
Chicken stock/ broth or water 1-2 cups
Ajinomotto 2 pinch of
Soya sauce 2tbsp
Chilli sauce(optional)(if you want it more hot)
Tomato Ketchup 1 tbsp
Maggi Hot and Sweet 1 tbsp
Sugar 1/2 tsp
Vinegar 1/2 tsp

Method:-

Wash the chicken thoroughly and cut into 2 inch bite size pieces.

Add egg white of one egg, 2 tbsp of corn flour, 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste, 2 pinch of black pepper, and salt to chicken and keep it aside for at least 15 minutes..

Deep fry it in oil till it becomes brown in color or to avoid much oil you can just fry it in a nonstick pan in 1-2 tbsp of oil till it becomes brown from all the sides.

 For Gravy:-

Now take a deep pan add 2 tbsp of oil .

Add chopped chilli, chopped garlic and ginger and saute for a minute till the ginger and garlic turns little brown in color.

Now add chopped onion , coriander leaves and green onion and saute for 3-4 minutes in high flame.

Then add  soya sauce, tomato ketchup ,hot and sweet sauce, vinegar and  chilli sauce.
(you can vary the amount according to your taste and if you want little sweet flavor you can add 1/2 tsp of sugar or else you can avoid the sugar)

Add chicken stock / water and give it a boil . Add salt according to your taste.

Mix the chicken and ajinomotto  and let it simmer for sometime.

Then in a bowl  mix 2 tbsp of cornflour with water and make a  batter and mix it with the above and stir it .

Cook until the gravy thickens or the desired consistency of the gravy you are looking for..

Now sprinkle some chopped green onion and pinch of black pepper and switch off the flame.

Serve hot with Fried rice or Hakka noodles or Plain rice.

Notes:-

You can also use green peppers thinly sliced if you want , and add it while adding onions.

You can vary the amount of the sauces as per your taste and the amount of cornflour depending on the thickness of the gravy you want.

Chicken broth will add real flavor to the dish.
